Aerial Yoga
In today’s busy world stress and anxiety have increased. Children face daily stressors such as demanding school days, too many extracurricular events, and ever increasing homework. These stressors have replaced the opportunities for natural stress relief such as playing outside and unstructured free play. At Mindful Child, we give children the opportunity to practice these natural stress relief activities through aerial yoga and mindfulness. We teach them ways to reflect and connect in each of our classes, camps and therapy sessions.
Why Kids Love Aerial Yoga
Moving in the aerial hammocks is fun and inspires play. Play is a an important self-care technique for children. Play is an essential part of overall wellness and happiness for not only children, but adults as well.
The hammock encourages all kinds of movement, including cross-lateral movement, which is fundamental for learning. When arms and legs cross the body’s midline, both sides of the body are forced to communicate. This results in integration of both sides of the brain, which, in turn, improves learning.
Here are the recognized benefits aerial yoga can provide for your child’s body:
- Helps neuromuscular development
- Increases body awareness
- Reduces the risk of injury
- Improves sport performance
- Promotes sensory integration
- Enhances brain functioning
- Builds core strength
