Mindfulness and Children's Yoga
Module One
This first module for yoga teacher training in Prairie Village helps participants gain a better understanding of the relationship between the body, brain, and nervous system. It also teaches how yoga and mindfulness can support self-regulation. Participants will learn the tools needed to help children use their breathing as a way to remain calm. The course also focuses on teaching individuals the best ways to improve a child’s focus, concentration, and self-confidence through yoga. This course will help participants teach children to use yoga through creative ways.
What you will learn:
- Ways to safely instruct children’s yoga classes based on developmental level.
- To instruct kids and teens on basic poses and mindful practices/movement that facilitate self-regulation and self-esteem.
- Breathing exercises for reducing stress and anxiety.
- Lesson planning best practices for creating successful, engaging classes.
- Engaging ways to introduce mindfulness to reduce tension and stress.

Mindfulness & Yoga for Sensory, Trauma, and Special Needs
Module Two
Yoga and mindfulness can significantly improve a child’s emotional, neurological, physical, and cognitive growth. Yoga can improve the negative effects of stress, developmental challenges, trauma, and mental health disorders. Through proper kid’s yoga teacher training in Prairie Village, individuals will learn how to utilize therapeutic movement as a way to work with children that are dealing with multiple diagnoses. Trainees will also learn visualization and relaxation techniques to help children become more emotionally resilient.
What you will learn:
- Utilize yoga/therapeutic movement and incorporate this practice into their work with children with a variety of diagnoses.
- Learn the principles and tools needed to address and support symptoms of trauma for youth.
- Ways to modify and sequence yoga classes for children with diagnoses such as ADHD, Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Anxiety, Stress, Learning Disabilities, Downs Syndrome, Trauma, and Developmental Delays.
- Yoga games specifically designed for increasing focus and reducing hyperactivity.
- Yoga poses with modification and suggestions for engagement and safety engaging mindfulness practices to support self-awareness and self-regulation.
- Visualization and relaxation techniques to support emotional resilience.

Mindfulness and Yoga: Advanced Teaching Concepts for Children
Module Three
Yoga is much more advanced than stretching and poses, especially for children. Child-focused yoga is designed to improve the whole health of a child. The training emphasizes the importance of healthy living and social-emotional learning. It will help individuals provide fun ways to incorporate yoga in a child’s life. We will review classroom-friendly techniques that support regulation, awareness, and learning. Additionally, this session will emphasize the importance of learning healthy mindful eating techniques.
What you will learn:
- Expand your knowledge of the brain and nervous system and how it relates to yoga.
- Discuss research-backed ways to dissipate behavior issues and enhance cognitive processing during yoga classes.
Practice new yoga and mindfulness-based activities. - Discuss yogic philosophy and ethics and how to apply it to children’s yoga classes.
- Deepen your understanding of anatomy and physiology in relation to exercise and children’s yoga.
- Learn healthy mindful eating techniques and why they are important to add to children’s classes.

Kids' Aerial Yoga Training
Module Four
Learn how aerial yoga and mindfulness can build resilience and executive function through play in the hammock. Participants will leave training with the tools to help children use the calming power of their breath, improve resilience, boost strength, and feel self-confident through physical movement in the air. Includes an illustrated 50+ page manual with detailed instructions.
What you will learn:
- Ways to safely instruct children’s aerial yoga poses based on developmental level in one-point and two-point hammocks.
- To instruct children ages 3-18 on basic aerial poses and mindful movement that facilitates self-regulation, strength, and calm.
- Breathing exercises for reducing stress and improving focus.
- Engaging ways to introduce mindfulness in the hammock.
- Creative aerial yoga games created by Dr. Tracy.

Additional Notes
The Mindful Child levels provide 18 contact hours plus 7 non-contact hours for each level. Each participant seeking the 95-hour designation must register for the 95-application/mentorship, which provides teachers with the last 20 hours needed to register with Yoga Alliance.

Because Mindful Child Aerial Yoga offers proprietary information and trademarked intellectual property, we require that participants in this program will not open a children’s yoga facility or studio within a 50-mile radius of any Kansas City-based Mindful Child Aerial Yoga Studio owned by Dr. Tracy L. Daniel without explicit written permission from Mindful Child Aerial Yoga.
