Kid’s Occupational Therapy in Prairie Village
At Mindful Child we offer a whole-child approach to kid’s occupational therapy and wellness. Our evidence-based mindfulness approach is combined with traditional occupational therapy to facilitate motor skills while teaching coping techniques such as how to regulate your body/emotions, breathe, focus and relax. We only use therapy techniques that are backed by neurological research. Our therapists work to find the root of the problem, not treat symptoms. We believe in an integrative, health-based approach, which combines neuro-sensory-motor techniques with psychology, behavioral nutrition, cognitive behavioral therapy, aromatherapy and relaxation training. All occupational therapy sessions are play-based and the aerial yoga hammock is used as a therapeutic prop to enhance mindfulness, sensory integration, motor planning, executive function, stress reduction and more.

Childhood is full of fun and play, sure – but kids also experience stress, anxiety, challenging situations, and overstimulation. Yet knowing how to deal with these obstacles is not an innate skill that most kids have. In our mindfulness-based therapy sessions, we teach your child how to be mindful to promote emotional balance and resilience. Mindfulness shows children how to overcome challenges through guided instruction in fun, sensory and evidence-based activities. Mindful Child’s mindfulness approach is combined with a variety of other health-based practices based on your child’s individual needs. Our therapy sessions teach your child to reduce stress, improve concentration, and handle difficult emotions.
